Dr. Edwin F. Williams III attended Cornell University in Ithaca, New York where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1982. He began medical school at the State University of Buffalo School of Medicine and received his Doctor of Medicine in 1986. From 1986 to 1987 Dr. Williams completed his graduate internship in surgery at SUNY Health Sciences Center in Syracuse, New York.Following this he completed his residency training in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck from 1987 – 1991. During his head and neck surgical training in Syracuse, Dr. Williams developed a strong interest in plastic surgery of the face, head and neck. With a further desire for training in this area he pursued a fellowship through the American Academy of Facial and Plastic Reconstructing Surgery at the University of Illinois in Chicago from 1991 – 1992. During this year of training his entire experience consisted of cosmetic and reconstruction surgery of the nose, eyes, face and neck.

Very informative and inspirational. Really nice to hear this six months in to my start up and feeling like I’m not going to make it some days. I’m excited for the next discussion and look forward to becoming more successful and having fun.

It was an extremely informative session. Dr. Williams has extraordinary insight into the industry and is able to speak from experience in both business and clinical aspects of practice. I found it extremely valuable!

Wonderful first episode and I plan on listening to all of them- you have touched on the ‘growth points’ (I don’t like to use the word pain points as once these barriers are broken, growth happens), of running a cosmetic practice- time management, hiring, scaling services, potential buy out, generating revenue while not doing all the work. I have taken multiple courses for both leadership and business management and have read most of the books you suggest. I have more to read, learn and it is great to be able to have this option as an e-mentor. We all have to put in the work, it is nice to have an overall blueprint as to where to focus our energy to grow. I look forward to learning more and I am encouraging my colleagues to do the same.

“I have known Dr. Ed Williams for over 15 years as a fellow partner in the New England Laser and Cosmetic Surgery Center. I have found him to be not only an outstanding physician but an excellent administrator and businessman. His efforts in making the surgical center a success were greatly appreciated by his fellow partners. This extremely complicated project exemplified his abilities to accomplish a goal despite the many obstacles that were put in his way. He has an excellent skill set with regards to formulating strategies to move the surgical center forward. I have dealt with many other individuals on a business basis during my forty-year career. “In surgery, we begin our careers learning from mentors. We then go into practice on our own, think we need to figure out all for ourselves and forget the transformative role mentors can have in our lives. This is the opposite of what is done by successful CEOs and businessman. Finding mentors as a surgeon/entrepreneur is perhaps the most important thing you can do to put you on the track for success. There is no better mentor in this field than Dr. Ed Williams. He is a lifelong student of business and will turn you on to some of the most important concepts and books to help set your practice on the fast track. His plan for business succession is pure genius and he will teach you how to take a page from the accountants and attorneys who commonly grow their solo practices into multi-partner conglomerates. He also happens to be one of the nicest, honest, and most decent persons in our field that I have ever met and I consider him a mentor and role model in life as well.”
