Excellence has defined Dr. Micheal Garcia’s professional and educational pursuits. A board-certified radiation oncologist specializing in treating tumors through targeted radiation, Dr. Garcia’s research in improving symptom management for cancer patients has been recognized with a Merit Award from the American Society of Clinical Oncology’s Conquer Cancer Foundation. Exceptional patient education also earned Dr. Garcia the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) Patient Care Fund Award, and he has been recognized as a “Top Doctor” by Phoenix Magazine.
A history of achievement
Not only did Dr. Garcia graduate from Stanford with Honors (Biological Sciences), but he was also a three-time All-American and NCAA Division 1 national champion in Track & Field. During his tenure at Stanford, his research expertise was notably acknowledged with the prestigious Firestone Award. Dr. Garcia earned a master’s degree in biological sciences at the university with a focus on immunology, too. He would later earn his M.D. at Harvard Medical School. As a Linnane Scholar, Dr. Garcia demonstrated excellence in both academic and community leadership. He served as chief resident while completing his residency in radiation oncology at UCSF.
Always advancing
Dr. Garcia has authored dozens of peer-reviewed publications on radiosurgery, medical education, and patient symptom management topics, as well as multiple chapters for oncology textbooks. He has served as an investigator in numerous clinical studies. When not treating patients, Dr. Garcia is the Chief Medical Officer for a medical technology company dedicated to improving the quality of life and outcomes for patients with brain tumors.
