Tavish Nanda, MD grew up in San Francisco, California before moving to Los Angeles for his undergraduate degree – where he studied Health & Humanity and Screenwriting at the University of Southern California. He graduated with multiple honors including trustee scholar, global scholar, and renaissance scholar. After four years he switched coasts, pursuing his medical degree and residency training at the College of Physicians & Surgeons at Columbia University in New York City, where he served as chief resident and received the Edith & Denton McKane ophthalmology research award. Dr. Nanda then completed a two-year fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery and medical retina at the New England Eye Center / Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston in Massachusetts, with affiliations at Massachusetts Eye and Ear (Harvard Medical School) and Tufts University Medical Center. As one of the top fellowships in the country, Dr. Nanda has experience with all elements of surgical retina, from complex tractional detachments to secondary IOL placement.
Dr. Nanda is board certified in ophthalmology and is an active member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retina Specialists. Over the years he’s published a myriad of first author papers and presented on both the national and international stage. During fellowship he also served as a sub-investigator for over two dozen clinical trials, including Vabysmo, Syfovre, and sub-retinal gene therapy.
Dr. Nanda has a longstanding interest and commitment to global health, having served as a global impact fellow in Ghana, where he performed retina surgery for patients living in poverty. Over the years he’s led medical mission trips to Israel, Mexico, Guatemala, and the Dominican Republic. He currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine at the Frank H. Netter school of medicine at Quinnipiac University, and as a committee member for the New England Ophthalmologic Society and Connecticut Society of Eye Physicians.
Dr. Nanda has always been drawn to the finesse and detail of ophthalmology. He greatly values the ability to restore vision and improve the quality of life in his patients. Outside of medicine, Dr. Nanda enjoys skiing, traveling, and creative writing.
