I recommend Cynthia X. Pan for her exceptional organizational and leadership abilities as the Chair of Ethnogeriatrics committee of the American Geriatrics Society and Medical director of the Hospice network in New York. Her effective pursuasive style, attention to details and great interpersonal and communication skills helps to get any work however difficult done smoothly.

I have known Dr. Cynthia Pan since we started our first day of geriatric fellowship at Harvard Medical School in 1995. We completed the Clinical Effectiveness Program (Harvard School of Public Health) together in 1996 and served on the faculty of Mount Sinai School of Medicine together 1999-2003. Dr. Pan is a diligent, hardworking, and trustworthy colleague; a compassionate and caring physician; and a dear friend. From the outset, Cynthia was interested in pain management and complementary/alternative medicine (she spent time in China during her fellowship), as well as ethnogeriatrics (the role of culture in geriatric medicine). It is not surprising to me that she has become a recognized expert in these fields; coauthoring a series of books on ethnogeriatrics, publishing peer-reviewed articles, developing innovative educational programs, and serving as Chair of the recently formed Ethnogeriatrics Committee of the American Geriatrics Society (AGS). Cynthia and I recently had an opportunity to collaborate again on a proposed symposia for the AGS entitled, “An Interdisciplinary Approach to Medication Adherence”. It is a sincere pleasure to work with her again!
